Guttridge Conveyors chosen for Sugar Plant upgrade
Guttridge, the Lincolnshire based materials handling specialists, were chosen to supply five large stainless steel screw conveyors as part of a new packing plant project to handle dried sugar beet shreds at the British Sugar Newark Plant.
Guttridge were chosen to provide the machinery because of a reputation for willingness to customise machines to suit a customer's precise needs, and their past experience of dealing with similar materials.
Anyone who has worked within the pharmaceutical industry will know that immaculate hygiene standards are a must. Therefore when a leading pharmaceutical company approached Guttridge with plans to purchase a new screw discharger, Guttridge were well aware of the high standards expected.
British Sugar were keen to have only the highest quality machines operating in their Newark Plant. As such the conveyors feature:
- Single span screws where possible
- Cooper split bearings and choke sections for explosion protection
- Stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance and durability
The conveyors, rated at 15 - 20tph and between 450mm and 600mm diameter, will transport dried sugar beet shreds to a new packing plant, allowing British Sugar to offer sugar beet in 20kg bags to the animal feed market.
Guttridge manufacture a full range of heavy duty Elevators, Conveyors and other ancillary machinery for the Chemicals, Minerals, Cereals, Feed and Petfood Industries, as well as a comprehensive range of machinery designed to suit the particular needs of the Foods, Fine Chemicals and Pharmaceutical Industries. All machines can be tailored to suit customers' own specifications and are designed and manufactured in Guttridge's new state of the art factory in Spalding, Lincolnshire.
