Q: What do you do day to day?

A: Dealing with customer enquiries from quotation stage to order placement.  Assisting with any queries the customer may have with the specification of equipment. Working with other departments to make sure processes run smoothly.  Attending the site if required to discuss technical applications and any engineering queries.

Q: What do you enjoy the most about your role?

A: That Guttridge is a UK-based manufacturing company, and we manufacture on-site in Spalding, Lincs.  This means I can follow the whole process - from the initial enquiry to the equipment being manufactured and leaving Guttridge for the customer's site.  When I know I have helped a customer fulfill their requirements. Also getting a big order helps brighten up the day!

Q: Engineering and manufacturing are quite stereotypically masculine industries, what made you decide to work in this role?

A: I have always worked in the construction/manufacturing industry, and taking the role at Guttridge was the next step in my career development.

Q: How long have you been working here at Guttridge? 

A: 3 years, 2 months.  I started a week into lockdown in March 2020, not ideal as I didn't meet my colleagues for 1.5 years!

Q: The biggest lesson you have learned whilst working here at Guttridge? 

A:  Stay calm!

Q: What are the 3 essential skills that a Sales Engineer must have?

A: Multi-task, good listener, sense of humour.

A: Making the perfect cuppa.

Q: What motivates you?

A: The variety day to day, assisting customers with their needs and fulfilling their requirements from quotation to delivery of equipment on site.  Getting a thank you from the customer always helps motivate me and puts on a smile on my face.
