SHAPA annual Solids Handling Awards are to promote success and achievement across their collective industries and were open to all companies registered in the UK, whether SHAPA members or not, who are directly involved in the solids handling and processing industry.

The awards were in six categories: the Innovation Award, the Export Award, the Sustainability Awards, the Newcomer Award, the apprentice prize award, and the SHAPA Company of the Year Award.

Apprentice project Prize awards were awarded to three apprentices within the SHAPA member community. The assessment was based on applicant development through a project or challenge overcome and a short video presentation (max 3 minutes) to the judging panel. There were three monetary prizes paid directly to the apprentices with the First prize of £500 and two 2 second prizes of £250. Guttridge is proud to announce that their apprentice Aiden Heyes was up against the tough competition and winning the Apprentice of The Year was well deserved. Aiden Heyes (only 16 at the time) joined Guttridge in 2019 and showed his enthusiasm and talent from the very first day at Guttridge.

The Newcomer Award was awarded to an individual who has contributed to a Member Company/organisation or developed significantly in the field of bulk solids handling, contribution(s) in areas such as sales, design, innovation, apprenticeship, or further studies that has/have greatly benefited themselves, their company or organisation.

Sam was incredibly surprised when he was nominated; ‘I’m really thankful and wasn’t expecting it in the slightest!’
