Guttridge Troughflo

Low cost, versatile handling designed for easy cleaning

The Guttridge Troughflo is a complete screw conveyor system for use within the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. Screw conveyors are an essential part of many conveying and storage systems dealing with powdered or granular materials. Being simple and robust in design and easily maintained, they provide low cost, versatile handling equipment with many applications in process plants.

Guttridge Troughflo Conveyor Range

The modular design allows any configuration to be easily and quickly built up to suit a customer’s exact requirements. A very wide variety of optional extras, including inlet hoppers, quick release hinged lids, special screws with ribbon flighting, crescent blades, or specially pitched flighting, and many other special purpose fittings, are easily incorporated to customise machines as necessary.

Benefits

  • Designed specially for use with Auger Filling Machines
  • Rapid release tube clamps & slip-fit auger for easy clean down
  • Robust packing gland seal protects bearings from product ingress
  • 316 stainless steel contact parts
  • Tough powder coated mild steel non-contact parts
  • Available configured and modified to suit individual specifications

Construction

The Troughflo machine is sturdily constructed using high quality materials throughout. All components are precision punched and fabricated for ease of assembly and interchangeability. All contact parts are manufactured from 316 grade stainless steel, with external surfaces polished to a uniform grained finish of 180 grit. Non-contact parts are made from mild steel, with external surfaces powder coated for maximum durability and long life.

Motors are rated to IP55 as standard. Conventional flange bearings support the stainless steel drive and tail shafts, which rotate in packing gland seals to provide an effective seal against most types of products.

Operation

Careful attention has been paid to the design of the Troughflo machine to ensure ease and safety of operation. The drive shaft and screw sections are connected using special slip-fit couplings which require no gudgeon bolts, making disassembly remarkably quick and easy.

The Troughflo is designed for horizontal use or inclined up to 30 degrees, but this must be specified at the time of enquiry. The drive motor mounting has a unique design, allowing the drive to be positioned above, below, or at either side – especially useful where site conditions allow limited space.
