Sugar Handling
Sugar and pulped sugar beet conveyors from Guttridge
Conveying requirements for the sugar industry fall into two discrete categories. Reliable transport of the pulped sugar beet feed involves handling a sticky sludge with variable moisture content. In contrast, the granulated sugar product that forms the bulk of the sugar industry output is free-flowing, hygroscopic, has a closely defined specification, and may cake even in the absence of moisture.

Conveying Solutions
Bulk Materials Handling for a diverse range of materials.
Guttridge has over 60 years experience delivering bulk handling solutions. We specialise in both off the shelf modular conveyors and bespoke systems designed to meet the unique needs of each customer. From small business to large commercial enterprises, we’re committed to delivering the best materials handling solutions, every time.
Screw conveyors can also be a good option for granulated products with the pitch of the screw modified to meet speed and loading requirements and ensure controlled product flow. Hygienic transport is essential and stainless steel is therefore typically the preferred material of construction. Elevators can be an inexpensive and energy efficient choice where vertical lift is required and are available with special bucket systems where appropriate.
Guttridge machinery is well-suited to the sugar conveying industry, some of which include:
- Guttridge Range conveyors, dischargers and elevators
- Bespoke solutions from the Custom HD Range conveyors, dischargers and elevators
ATEX zoned equipment is offered where necessary and bespoke solutions are routinely delivered.
“We were impressed with the company’s willingness to innovate new solutions that would help us to achieve the very highest levels of reliability – a major goal for our site.”
– Mr Adam Elmes, Project Manager at Lafarge, discussing the supply of sand/cement/aggregate handling equipment
