For the second year running, Guttridge have joined in with Save
the Children۪s Christmas Jumper Day.  The
event is now in its third year and so far more than .6 million has been
raised to date.

This year, the government are matching every pound given to
double the total raised.

Save the children works in 120 countries, saving children۪s
lives, fighting for their rights and helping to keep them safe.

Emergency support

They offer support in emergencies such as the current Ebola
crisis, offering support to children that have lost parents or caregivers to
the virus.  As well as the risk to their
lives, the virus is causing a breakdown of infrastructure in affected
countries, with an increasing likelihood of children missing out on healthcare,
education and protection.  Save the
Children have been working in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia since the crisis
began.  They are providing hand washing
facilities, building treatment centres, distributing supplies to hospitals,
providing specialist support to children whose lives have been affected and
establishing Ebola Care Units to help tackle the disease at community level.

Life-saving
Programmes

Save the Children also run world-class programmes to
challenge world leaders to keep to their promises to give children a better
future by:

  • tackling poverty
  • providing access to better healthcare facilities
  • feeding children when famine arises
  • helping to give children an education
  • protecting children that are in danger

This is a brilliant charity, well worth supporting and the
day is becoming a well-known pre-Christmas event for many businesses and
schools.
