Guttridge’s Paul Cooper, area sales manager for the west of the UK, is delighted to have been selected to volunteer at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Having been a volunteer steward at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2010, Paul enjoyed the experience so much that he applied last summer to volunteer at the London 2012 Olympic Games. It was not until April this year that he was delighted to find out that he had been selected.
Paul will be a member of the Events Services Team in the Olympic Park from Saturday 28th July to Wednesday 8th August. He will be working in the Olympic Park from 0620 to 1500 every day and he has three main duties:
1. To take tickets
2. To help to direct people and ensure that they arrive where they need to be
3. To respond to requests for information within the Olympic Park
The whole experience is completely voluntary – no help is given with living costs and the volunteers will not receive payment.
Paul commented enthusiastically “I am so excited to be selected and am really looking forward to the whole experience. The recent training session I attended took place in the Olympic Park, which is looking absolutely magnificent. Volunteering at the Commonwealth Games was amazing but I am expecting this once in a lifetime opportunity to help at the Olympics to be an experience I will never forget.”
